Thorax

As suggested by Kirith Kodachi I'm including here my Thorax setup for input. I'm also including Dante's profile as reference. I changed a bit my setup based on the experience, but I'm sure that things can be improved.

Gank Thorax
Lows:
- 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizers I
- 800 mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten
- Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
- Damage Control II
Meds:
- Statis Webifier I
- Warp Scrambler I
- 10MN MicroWarpDrive I
Highs:
- 5 x Heavy Electron Blaster I (Thorium M)
Drones:
- 5x Hammerhead I

EHP: 17,593 (with DC on)
Firepower: 178 (including drones)
Speed: 204 m/s (1201 m/s with mwd)
Capacitor at 52% with all (except the mwd) on

Comments:
- Ammo... I know that Antimatter M provides the highest damage (219 in this setup), but the -50% range modifier is a big price for me to pay. With the current Thorium ammo I have an optimal of 2k with a fallout of 3k. The antimatter cuts that to 1k optimal with the fallout still at 3k. As I understand it I have to be at 1k for my dps to be the best, but that has proven difficult so far.
- I can fit mag stab II, but didn't do because of budget issues. I hope this changes once my alt is in a retriever and Dante is done with hacking.

  1. Ok... I wouldn't bother with MFS at all on a Thorax. The damage increase is not worth it in exchange for your survivability. Instead consider a second EANM and a medium armour repairer. You can't run the repairer long even with the MWD off but it might be the difference between winning and losing.

Secondly, antimatter, antimatter, antimatter. 1km versus 2km opt is meaningless in this case as you should be driving to orbit at 500m anyways to get your transversal up as high as possible. The loss of DPS for using Thorium is hurting you; go Antimatter, faction antimatter if you can afford it.

Here's how I used to do it:
    1) arrive in belt / planet with enemy. Hit approach, target, and MWD immediately. Launch drones.

    2) Target resolves, assign drones to attack, get web and scram on asap.

    3) Once webbed and scramed, turn off MWD and orbit at 500m. You will probably drift out to 750-1000m so all is good. Your blasters and drones will make mincemeat of him.

    4) turn off blasters if cap is an issue / you need to turn on repper. Drones will continue to do DPS.

Alternatively, consider using ECM drones to try and jam your target. I've had moderate success using them.

  2. Thanks for the comments. I'll do as suggested. If I recall correctly (don't have EFT up at the moment) the change from Thorium -> Antimatter is big enough that I will not see that much difference when dropping the MFS.

I'll try it this weekend and report.
